Plagiarism Policy

Plagiarism Policy:

Ibn Sina University Journal enforces a strict, zero-tolerance policy toward all forms of plagiarism, data falsification, and academic misconduct. The journal is committed to safeguarding scholarly integrity and ensuring that all published works represent original intellectual contributions.

1. Definition of Plagiarism & Misconduct:

The journal recognizes plagiarism as any of the following unauthorized practices:

  • Copying verbatim or closely paraphrasing texts, ideas, data, or graphics from another source without explicit, proper attribution and academic citation.

  • Self-Plagiarism: Re-submitting one’s own previously published work, data, or substantial text segments without proper disclosure or citation.

  • Submitting the exact same manuscript to multiple journals concurrently (concurrent or redundant submission).

2. Screening Software & Permissible Threshold:

  • All submitted manuscripts must undergo an obligatory plagiarism screening before being considered for the peer-review process. The screening is performed using specialized, industry-standard verification software, specifically (Plagiarism Checker X).

  • The maximum acceptable Similarity Index is set strictly at 25%. However, this similarity must not consist of large, continuous blocks of copied text from a single source, and it must absolutely exclude the original "Results and Discussion" sections. Manuscripts exceeding this threshold will be automatically returned or rejected.

3. Penalty and Retraction Protocols:

If plagiarism or academic dishonesty is identified at any stage (during initial screening, peer review, or post-publication), the Editorial Board will execute the following standard protocols in compliance with the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines:

  • During the Evaluation Phase: The manuscript will be immediately rejected, and a formal notification along with the official similarity report will be sent to the corresponding author.

  • Post-Publication: If plagiarism is proven after the article is published online, the journal will immediately initiate a formal Retraction. The article's PDF will be labeled, and a formal Retraction Notice detailing the violation will be prominently published in the next scheduled issue.

  • Sanctions: The Editorial Board retains the absolute right to ban the offending authors from submitting any manuscripts to the journal in the future (either temporarily or permanently) and to officially notify their respective academic institution or funding body regarding the ethical breach.
